Market.id – Indonesia’s domain name manager, PANDI (Pengelola Nama Domain Internet Indonesia), has set a new record with 1,317,633 registered .id domains as of August 31, 2025. This achievement underscores the growing role of .id as Indonesia’s national digital identity, increasingly trusted across different sectors.
This significant rise is more than just numbers—it reflects the broader adoption of the .id domain across society, from small businesses and entrepreneurs to large corporations.
According to PANDI’s official statement (September 16, 2025), the trend highlights rising awareness of the importance of digital identities rooted in local values—seen as essential for building trust and strengthening Indonesia’s position in the global digital ecosystem.
PANDI credits this success to collaboration with key stakeholders, including registrars and the government, in driving literacy and regulation around domain usage. With this momentum, .id has become more than an alternative—it’s now a primary choice in Indonesia’s digital landscape.
Launching .ai.id and Balinese Script SLD
Beyond the numbers, PANDI is preparing to launch new Second Level Domains (SLDs), including the Internationalized Domain Name (IDN) in Balinese script and .ai.id.
These innovations aim to create wider opportunities for both cultural preservation and technology development, while also reinforcing Indonesia’s digital identity on the global stage.
The .ai.id domain, designed specifically for Indonesia’s artificial intelligence ecosystem, will debut at the AI Innovation Summit (AIIS) on September 16, 2025, in collaboration with the National Artificial Intelligence Committee (Korika).
This domain will provide a credible platform for AI stakeholders—including industry players, researchers, and startups—positioning it as a trusted space for innovators.
Strengthening Indonesia’s Digital Identity
Meanwhile, the Balinese Script SLD seeks to merge cultural heritage with national digital identity. It offers a dedicated space for the Balinese community, cultural organizations, and academia to express their identity in a unique way.
To ensure accessibility, PANDI is partnering with Udayana University as the Special Registrar for this domain.
This step demonstrates PANDI’s commitment to innovation by providing domain options that remain relevant to modern needs—helping shape a digital ecosystem that is inclusive, diverse, and capable of bridging future innovation with Indonesia’s cultural legacy.
Cross-Sector Collaboration: .idFest 2025
In another major initiative, PANDI is hosting .idFest 2025 on September 16–17 at The Kasablanka, Jakarta.
.idFest is more than just a festival—it’s a movement that brings together tech industry players, digital communities, academics, and policymakers.
Through .idFest, PANDI aims to emphasize the importance of cross-sector collaboration in building an Indonesian internet that is both inclusive and globally competitive.
A key highlight of the event is Developer Day.id, a national innovation competition featuring 100 teams. The top three teams will earn the opportunity to represent Indonesia at the APICTA 2025 international competition in Taipei, opening new doors for global recognition.
